Pekapeka is a double headed Manaia.
It has been suggested that the Pekapeka represents the native bat However, it is also seen to represent two intertwined bird forms. Pekapeka are believed to symbolise spiritual protection and guardianship.
This piece measures 61 x 95 x 7mm and was carved by Yuki Tanaka.
